Pico Bonito National Park Part of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, Pico Bonito National Park is the most diverse National Park in Honduras and the second largest. It has a surface area of 107,300 hectares including its buffer zone (approximately 20 x 20 miles or 30 x 35 km). Pico Bonito National Park is located in the Nombre de Dios mountain range southeast of La Ceiba. The land varies in altitude from sea level to 7,500 ft. (the largest altitude change in Honduras) giving place to different types of forests (cloud, tropical rain, and dry). With the different altitudes and the diverse areas the park is host to a variety of reptiles, birds, mammals as well as amphibians.
